Actor and writer Anthony Lawton, heralded as the “Best One-Man Theater Company” by the Philadelphia City Paper, leads this workshop on creating and performing your own “first person” show. Explore the nuances of the solo show format by using your own autobiographical material (prose, poetry, or a working script) and exercises devised by Lawton. Each student receives Lawton’s textbook on solo performance.

Anthony Lawton has acted in Philadelphia for 18 years. His favorite roles include George in Of Mice and Men (Walnut Street Theater), Austin in True West, and Feste in Twelfth Night (both at Lantern Theater). The Lantern Theater held the Anthony Lawton Festival in 2010, at which Lawton performed three solo shows, including his autobiographical work, Heresy. His original play, The Foocy (2005), received five Barrymore nominations, including one for Best New Play.
