"There might be a reality which is mean and which is cruel, which is occupation, which is violence and all that. But there is another reality of people hoping for something better." —Rawan, 19, Palestinian Muslim

In 2002, 22 Palestinian and Israeli teenage girls traveled to the United States to participate in the women’s leadership program Building Bridges for Peace. My So-Called Enemy documents the drama of their experience there, then follows six of the girls over the next seven years, revealing how knowing their “enemies” as human beings meets with the realities of living in the Middle East.

After the film, we invite the audience for a 'Peace Meal' —a facilitated group discussion led by Melodye Feldman, founder of Seeking Common Ground and the Building Bridges for Peace program, over a dinner of Middle Eastern food from the acclaimed Israeli restaurant Zahav.

A co-production with the Philadelphia Jewish Film Festival.
