Two Philly food icons come together when Rick Nichols leads you on a behind-the-scenes tour of the historic Reading Terminal Market. The Market is about to get a major overhaul, including a brand new demo kitchen. Get a first hand peek at the renovations, explore the underground staging areas, and try samples from select food stalls. Savor the market’s history and get a taste of its future with insights from Nichols, The Philadelphia Inquirer's food columnist emeritus; Market Manager Paul Steinke; Fair Food Farmstand director Ann Karlen; and Tommy Nicolosi of DiNic's Roast Pork fame; and others.

After your tour ends, join Nichols at the Second Annual Forgotten Foods Festival for Cape May salt oysters, Philadelphia snapper soup, teaberry ice cream and other lost culinary treasures.

Rick Nichols was a long-time staffer at the Philadelphia Inquirer, serving as its food columnist for the last 15 years. He teaches journalistic writing at the University of Pennsylvania, plays a mean Scrooge at Narberth’s annual Dickens Festival, and is a regular reader at the Rosenbach Museum's annual Bloomsday event.
