It's a Halloween family open house at the Wagner Free Institute of Science, featuring a presentation with live animals from the Elmwood Park Zoo. Are fangs creepy or cool? At this time of year when bats, werewolves and vampires seem to be everywhere, the Wagner invites you to learn about the power and purpose of fangs—designed to intimidate, tear flesh, inject poison, and hold and kill prey. If you dare, examine the fangs of live animals, including an alligator, tarantula, bat, snake and more! Do all animals with fangs eat meat? Are fangs ever used to draw blood? We'll answer all of your curious, juicy questions! After examining our long-toothed friends visiting from the Elmwood Park Zoo,come explore the Wagner museum collection to find more fanged creatures. Children can participate in hands-on activities with natural history specimens and craft Halloween decorations to take home for the holiday.
