If the devil in the form of a child (as in The Exorcist) isn?t enough for you, how about a kiddie Antichrist? That?s what we have here, in this blockbuster fright-fest from the 70s. With Gregory Peck as the father (the American ambassador to England, no less) and lovely Lee Remick as the mother, this kid couldn?t have chosen better parents.

(Actually, Peck substitutes the child, without informing his wife, when their own offspring is stillborn.) However, as time goes by, strange, violent and unsettling things begin to take place around this foundling tyke – things that make his parents begin to read Revelations and become afraid. Very afraid. With an excellent cast and special effects that rely more on startling images than on gore, this is a movie that will keep you on the edge of your seat, and make you very careful around sheets of plate glass. (Bill Roth)

Directed by Richard Donner. UK. 1976. R. 111 min. Fox. 35mm.
