Take a look at portraits past and present and learn how to discover the people behind the painting. In the studio explore the secrets of designing your own family portrait. Families will work together to compose, paint and collage a group family portrait. View a painting and collage demonstration, then try techniques to assemble decorative papers, photos, fabric, pastel, markers and paint to create a mixed media portrait. The result will be an exciting family collaboration of faces, styles, and expressions.

The School District of Philadelphia supports the statement, "Parents are our partners." The Family Arts Academy program stems from a request for opportunities to help families learn outside of the school and is being presented in cooperation with the School District.
