Baritone Christian Gerhaher and Pianist Andras Schiff
May 10, 2012
Known for his soaring voice and seemingly infallible ear for dramatic phrasing, German baritone Christian Gerhaher has built a massive reputation in Europe, where he has been hailed as “the first and foremost interpreter of the German lied in the last few years” (Helsingin Sanomat). Songs at the core of this repertoire (including Schumann’s seminal Dichterliebe cycle) highlight his long-awaited debut program at the Perelman Theater, with the peerless András Schiff accompanying on piano.
