Cellist Sophie Shao and Pianist Ieva Jokubaviciute
January 8, 2012
A cellist with a “superior sense of style” (Strad), Curtis graduate and Avery Fisher Career Grant winner Sophie Shao has earned her place as one of the leading cellists of her generation. Now based in New York, she is acclaimed for her “eloquent, powerful” interpretations of repertoire ranging from Bach and Beethoven to Crumb (The New York Times). Returning to the Curtis Institute for her PCMS debut, she teams with acclaimed accompanist Ieva Jokubaviciute for a recital of works by Beethoven, Kirchner, Janacek and Brahms.
