A fictionalized account of the dramatic life and loves of the real actress Adriana Lecouvrer in 18th century Paris, this opera recounts her death after she was poisoned by a jealous rival. The complex plot full of intrigue and revenge will captivate even the most seasoned opera-goer and the new production boasts strong performances by a renowned cast.
This production, which is directed by David McVicar, conducted by Mark Elder, and stars Angela Gheorghiu, Jonas Kaufmann, and Olga Borodina, runs 3 hours 11 minutes and is in Italian with English subtitles.
