Hot Rize have been regulars on A Prairie Home Companion & TNN’s Ralph Emery Show, hit #1 on the national bluegrass airplay charts, received a Grammy nod and won Entertainer of the Year & Song of the Year awards from International Bluegrass Music Association plus co-hosted the 20th annual Awards Show. This eclectic progressive Colorado bluegrass band has passed the 30-year mark since its inception and continues to enhance its reputation as one of the leading bluegrass bands today. Their original lineup - Tim O'Brien (vocals, mandolin, fiddle), Pete Wernick (banjo, vocals), Charles Sawtelle (guitar, vocals), and Nick Forster (guitar, bass guitar, vocals, and the band's emcee) lasted 12 years without change until the untimely death of Charles Sawtelle in 1999. Reforming in 2002 with the great Bryan Sutton on guitar, their stage show gained renown, featuring strong and soulful bluegrass combined with their wacky but musically deft "alter-ego" country swing band, Red Knuckles and the Trailblazers. The group has performed in almost every state, as well as Europe, Japan, and Australia.
