This groundbreaking Bollywood film follows two poverty-stricken brothers, one of whom grows up to become a smuggler (the legendary Amitabh Bachchan) and the other a cop who must track him down. With its revolutionary characterization, Deewaar catapulted its stars and writers to instant fame and was a key influence on Danny Boyle's Oscar-winning Slumdog Millionaire.

Deewaar is shown in conjunction with Bryn Mawr Film Institute’s film course "Bollywood Cinema: An Introduction" and will be introduced by Bryn Mawr Film Institute’s Director of Education, Andrew J. Douglas, Ph.D.

Deewaar runs 2 hr 55 min, is in Hindi with subtitles, and stars Shashi Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, and Neetu Singh.
