The Meaning of Judaism Jewish Philiosophy and Extistenialism for Beginners
November 2-December 7, 2011
Through short readings from philosophy, literature and memoir Gershman Y will explore the Big Questions in Judaism: God’s existence, the purpose of Judaism, the relationship of Law and Love, the problem of suffering and evil, living a moral life under modern conditions, and how Judaism differs from Christianity. Your dialogue partners will be the fascinating Jewish thinkers of the 20th century—Emmaunel Levinas, Franz Rosenzweig, Martin Buber, Abraham Joshua Heschel and Rav Soloveitchik. Instructed by Dr. Elliot Ratzman.
