Contemporary Encaustic Techniques and Transfer Printing to Wax
November 5-November 6, 2011
This class will investigate the tools and methods for controlling wax with an emphasis on translucency and creating perceived depth with transfer printing onto the skin of the wax. Some of the techniques covered will include the incorporation of collage and image layering, how to combine oil paint and wax, building texture, scraping and scribing, plus a section on gold leaf. Learning will be hands-on with detailed demonstrations. After the initial core techniques have been covered, the class will proceed with transfer printing. A copy machine will be available to assist with your projects. No prior experience necessary.
