"Exciting World Premiere of Adea, the Modern Opera, by Cynthia Cozette"

The world premiere of the modern day opera, Adea (pronounced AH-DAY-AH), with music and libretto by Pennsylvania composer, Cynthia Cozette, will be held on Sunday, October 9, 2011 at 3:00PM in the Lutheran Church of the Holy Communion located at 2110 Chestnut Street in Center City Philadelphia. The exciting fully-staged opera performance is free and open to the public. A free will offering will be collected to support community Outreach programs of the Lutheran Church of the Holy Communion. A reception will follow the performance in Merz Hall.

The one-act opera, Adea, is a life drama about a small family coping with the complexity of poverty and crime. The story is about Adea Johnson, a young woman who guides her family through difficult times with her belief that Life is filled with Hope. The stirring arias composed by Cynthia Cozette enhance this life drama story.

Cynthia Cozette is a contemporary award winning composer whose works have been internationally performed. The featured performers will be dramatic soprano, Hazelita Fauntroy, in the title role of Adea. Lyrical soprano, Evette Jones, performs in the dual roles of Peaches and Mrs. Jones. Lyric tenor, Richard Smith, carries the role of Scoopy. Basso profundo, George Braxton, sings the role of Eddie, the loan shark, and lyric tenor, Barry Currington, performs the role of Andre. ADEA poster artwork is by Carissa Marinelli.
