This seminar is co-sponsored with the Association of Professional Landscape Designers. Visionaries Rick Darke, Ed Snodgrass, and Larry Weaner will lead a day of inspiration as they share their knowledge through instructional advice. This is for anyone interested in sustainability and how practices can be more effectively applied to residential landscapes. An excellent learning opportunity for avid gardeners, design professionals, and new gardeners. Schedule includes: optional green roof tour; Rick Darke, Sustainable Practices and the Modern Ecology–uses a broad array of designed landscapes and habitats to illustrate and lead discussion on creative and realistic strategies for making and managing beautifully functional places in sync with today’s ecology; lunch; Ed Snodgrass, Planting our Future: Green Roof--offers a unique opportunity for professionals interested in learning more about the design, engineering, and planting of sustainable roof systems and their part in our future; Larry Weaner, Breaking the Rules: Ecological Design for the Real World--examines practical, concrete processes for creating easily managed landscapes that seamlessly combine ecological diversity, cultural expression, and the traditions of garden design.
