The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee
August 18-August 21, 2011
The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is a musical comedy with music and lyrics by William Finn and a book by Rachel Shrinking. This hilarious tale chronicles the experiences of six adolescent outsiders (played by adults) vying for the spelling championship of a lifetime. Not only do they compete against themselves but also selected members of the audience. The show's Tony award winning creative team has created the unlikeliest of hit musicals about the unlikeliest of heroes: a quirky yet charming cast of outsiders for whom a spelling bee is the only place where they can stand out and fit in at the same time. Stephen Casey will direct and choreograph with musical direction by Michael Zweig, scenic design by Peter Martino, sound design by James Lajoie and Costume Design by Linda Bee Stockton. The cast will feature many familiar performers from recent seasons at the Bucks County Playhouse including Tressa McCallister Scibilia as Rona Perretti, Lauren Renahan as Olive Ostrovsky, Alex Perlman as William Barfee, Taylor Webster as Marcy Park, Leo Altafine as Chip Tolentino, Catherine Logan as Logainne Schwartzandgrubenniere, Peter Martino as Leaf Coneybear, Bryan Lesnick as Mitch Mahoney and Michael Zweig as Vice Principal Douglas Panch.
