Rembrandt and the Face of Jesus marks the first time a substantial group of paintings by the great artist of the Dutch Golden Age will be seen in Philadelphia. Including paintings, drawings and prints from collections in Europe and the United States, the exhibition explores the remarkable shift Rembrandt introduced to the depiction of Christ. Featuring masterpieces such as The Supper at Emmaus (Musée du Louvre, 1648), which has not been seen in the United States since 1936, the exhibition also reunites for the first time since 1656 an original group of oil portraits found in Rembrandt’s home and studio.
