St. Petersburg State Orchesta
February 11, 2012
One of Russia’s greatest exports, the Tschaikovsky St. Petersburg State Orchestra has built a devoted audience around the world. Under the baton of music director Roman Leontiev, the orchestra will play a program that includes works by Ravel, Prokofiev, and Rimsky-Korsakov. The Prokofiev piece, Concerto No. 1 in D-flat Major, will feature soloist Alexandre Pirojenko, whom the Washington Post described as having “the technical skills to do anything he wants with a piano; better yet, what he wants to do is sensitive, original, and brilliant.”
