XPN Welcomes Marshall Crenshaw with the Bottle Rockets
September 15, 2011
Celebrating the 30th year anniversary release of his first single "Something's Going to Happen" Marshall Crenshaw with full band – The Bottle Rockets - performs his first album & other familiar faves. His debut includes the Top 40 hit "Someday, Someway" + "Mary Anne", "Cynical Girl" & "Whenever Your On My Mind." Portraying John Lennon in “Beatlemania” & Buddy Holly in “La Bamba”, Marshall’s songs were covered by the likes of Gin Blossoms ("Till I Hear It from You") & Bette Midler (“You’re My Favorite Waste of Time”) plus Ronnie Spector, Robert Gordon and Freedy Johnston. (Cabaret reserved for Theater Members until 8/15/11)
In addition to backing Marshall, Festus Missouri's Bottle Rockets open the show with concert favorites such as “Alone In Bad Company”, “I'll Be Comin' Around”, “Gravity Fails” & “Radar Gun”.
“Most gorgeous singer-songwriter debut...every song here sounds like a classic.” - Rolling Stone
“Mr. Crenshaw’s songs seem to roll off the guitar in a casual blend of pre-1970s styles — folk-rock, surf-rock, country and above all the Beatles — that put melody first.” - New York Times
