Author Carrie Hagen will be at Eastern State to sign copies of her new book We Is Got Him. The book centers on the July 1, 1874 kidnapping of a little boy named Charley Ross from his front yard in Germantown. When the child’s father Christian reported his son’s disappearance, the police ignored him until he received a ransom letter demanding $20,000 for Charley’s return. The search for the two kidnappers, which spanned four months and 22 more ransom letters, led the Philadelphia and New York police departments to inspect every building in Philadelphia, set up saloon surveillance in New York's Five Points neighborhood, and engage citizens in a national manhunt.
