Movement Brigade presents CONSTANTS: a performance journey in history along the Schuylkill River, an interactive and site-specific performance work that explores how the Schuylkill River has been a constant factor in the lives of Philadelphians since the inception of the city. Audience members are taken through a forest, boarded onto a canoe, rowed out to Peter's Island, and serenaded under the Columbia Railroad Bridge, all the while hearing and witnessing history firsthand in the evening light of the Schuylkill River. The history of Philadelphia is layered and complex, and many stories have not had the chance to come alive, lying in the shadows of more iconic symbols such as Benjamin Franklin and the Liberty Bell. CONSTANTS brings to life lesser-known tales of the Lenape tribe, runaway slaves, water-borne diseases, and the shadfish's journey of rebirth.

CONSTANTS 2010 was a hit at the 2010 Philly Fringe Festival and quickly sold out! All tickets must be purchased in advance.
