The New Connection with The Spring Standards / Lightninging / Evergreen THE NEW CONNECTION Why do I like The New Connection? It's simple, really. Listening to their music brings me back to my high-school days, an era of punk rock shows that shook the foundations of the smoky, crowded basements in which they took place - something that might not ..sound.. like bliss, but for me and the dozens of loyal fans who embraced the local underground scene it really was. The New Connection isn't as loud as some of those bands I liked in those days, and they're certainly not as abrasive, which is why, in my mid-twenties, I can enjoy them without worrying about the future of my eardrums. But they still have the refreshing flavor of a band that knows its roots, would be totally willing to play those shady basements shows, and - above all - makes music just for the sake of music itself.-Rachel Perry ..(Play Magazine) http://www.myspace.com/thenewconnectionmusic THE SPRING STANDARDS James Cleare, Heather Robb and James Smith first sang together in the last summer of the 20th century. Having just turned 16, the three teens with a common affinity for "oldies" music and harmony spent the better part of the next 2 years playing shows around the Delaware/Pennsylvania area. Influenced as much by their parent's record collections as they were by what they heard on the radio, their style began to take shape into something a little bit both and a little bit neither. When high school graduation came along, their paths divided; years passed and things changed, but before they knew it they were all living within a few blocks of each other in New York City. The transition back into making music together was as natural as it was surprising - they happily picked up where they had left off years before, with a unique style that refuses to sit comfortably in any genre. Cleare, Robb, and Smith are all songwriters and multi-instrumentalists. They use their strengths as a trio to create a sound that listeners might expect from a band twice their size. With an emphasis on 3-part harmony and a variety of instrumental switching, their range and energy onstage make each live show a unique event. http://thespringstandards.com/ LIGHTNINGING {LIGHT-ning-ing} n. A five person rock and roll band from Philadelphia. Greg (Foran) mostly plays drums on account of him being so good at it. Dave, Greg (O'Neill), Mark, and Matt swap the rest of the instruments awkwardly in between extended fits of manaical abandon and music ecstasy. The music is comprised of loud guitars, vocal harmonies, keyboards, quiet guitars, trumpet, thumps, bumps, and wiggles. Guaranteed fun and spectacle. http://www.facebook.com/Lightninging EVERGREEN Evergreen is a rock band with pop rock influences, as well as a hint of Indie Rock, that is proud in its variety of song styles. Evergreen, formed in mid September of 2009, just finished recording their first album Here Is Now... Evergreen wants to put musical competence back in Pop/rock music with a focus on quality musicianship and simple, yet thought provoking, lyrics. Key changes, meter changes, unique chord progressions, wide vocal range and harmonies, and intelligent song writing set this band apart, which gains much respect from other highly qualified musicians, but keeps it relatable to the average listener. During the past few months, Evergreen has shared the stage with plenty of great artists such as; The Ataris, Jupiter One, The Lives Of Famous Men, The Higher, Between The Trees and Don’t Panic. http://www.facebook.com/EvergreenNJ
