Introduce your child to writing, counting and a classroom environment through arts-focused curriculum. Darlington's Preschool and Kindergarten Arts Programs includes music, visual arts, creative movement, drama and Spanish! Teachers emphasize creativity, imagination, exploration and active participation. In art, the emphasis is on process and progress rather than product. Children are encouraged to experiment with a variety of materials and techniques in order to expand their artistic expression and hand-eye coordination. Music instruction includes listening, singing, moving and playing rhythm instruments. They develop an appreciation for the patterns and musical variety produced by rhythms and melodies. In drama and creative movement, students engage in role playing and movement utilizing their creativity and imaginations to their fullest. In Spanish students are introduced to the Spanish language in a fun and engaging manner using age appropriate methods. The alphabet, numbers, colors and basic conversation will be covered. Children must be 3 years old and potty-trained by the start of the semester. Students should dress in play clothes and bring a small snack (please avoid snacks with peanut products, as a number of the students have severe peanut allergies). Ages 3-5.
