Strangers on a Train
July 19, 2011
Robert Walker gives a mesmerizing performance as a peculiar man who proposes doing “exchange murders” with a rising tennis star (Farley Granger) whom he meets on a train. Another masterpiece of suspense fed by anxiety and guilt, Strangers on a Train concludes with the famous “carousel scene,” one of Hitchcock’s great climaxes. This film is shown as part of the Alfred Hitchcock: Best of the Rest series in conjunction with the film course of the same name. Each screening will be introduced by the course instructor, Andrew J. Douglas, Ph.D.
