    Taste of Cherry, dir. Abbas Kiarostami, Iran, 1997, 35mm, 99 mins, color, Farsi with English subtitles. Winner of the Palme d’Or at the 1997 Cannes Film Festival, Iranian auteur Abbas Kiarostami’s Taste of Cherry is an emotionally complex meditation on life and death. Middle-aged Mr Badii (Homayoun Ershadi) drives through the hilly outskirts of Tehran--searching for someone either to rescue or bury him. Truly a national treasure, Janus Films is a vital part of American film culture. Film @ International House Philadelphia continues the Janus Collection with titles from their library, all in brand new or restored 35mm prints.
