"Drawing is the Mother and Painting is the Child." The colorful and versatile medium of pastel is the bridge between drawing and painting. Begin by learning to observe and create value relationships with the picture plane to construct a balanced image. Through basic color theory, practice transparent and opaque layering techniques, developing brilliant and unusual color palettes as well as compelling surface textures. Attention will be paid to each student's individual style and expression. Class size limited. Bring your own supplies; material list available upon registration. Adults.
