Colossus: The Forbin Project
July 24, 2011
Sponsored by Phoenixville Area Education Association
Computers are our friends and helpful servants, right? Making our lives better and better with each day? So how about if we gave one super-computer total control over all our nuclear and other defense systems?
And then, what if the computer links up with the Soviet computer, with a goal of world domination, and we ?nd that we can?t turn it off? Wouldn?t that be scary? Well it is, in what London?s Radio Times calls a “well-acted and utterly persuasive shocker that provides a cautionary warning regarding man?s dependency on technology.” This is a 1970s thriller that becomes more and more frightening, and more and more feasible, with each passing year. Don?t miss it! (Bill Roth)
Directed by Joseph Sargent. US. 1970. PG. 100 min. Universal. 35mm.
