Everyone is invited to come see Buster Keaton’s silent movie classic, The General, as you’ve never seen it before! Also known as Many Masterpieces Become One, this presentation of the Civil War 150th Anniversary edition of the movie has been meticulously scored with live Scott Joplin ragtime piano music by Philadelphia area producer, Eric Grob, and includes such hits as “The Maple Leaf Rag,” “The Pineapple Rag,” and “The Ragtime Dance.”

According to Grob, a retired millwright with a lifelong passion for trains, silent movies, and ragtime music, Joplin’s music is the perfect accompaniment to the Buster Keaton classic. Written in the same era as The General, Grob believes that Joplin’s music would have been used during the original showings of the movie had it not been for the racial barriers present at the time. Grob has spent his retirement “making it right” by scoring the movie with Joplin classics, hence the name Many Masterpieces Become One. Grob’s version with live piano music has delighted audiences in Doylestown and Ambler, PA theaters, plus The Roberts Orpheum in St. Louis, MO. Grob also has a version of the presentation available for sale on DVD through his website at www.eyeamericanproductions.com.

Live piano accompaniment by Charles de Mets, former house pianist for the Walnut Street Theater, who also toured with Beauty and The Beast.
