In conversation with David Dye. A pioneer in the concert industry and a fixture on the Philadelphia concert scene for more than forty years, Larry Magid opened the Electric Factory in February 1968 with a show featuring the Chamber Brothers, who declared, “My soul's been psychedelicized!” He has produced more than 15,000 concerts, orchestrated such Philadelphia milestones as Live Aid in 1985 and Live 8 in 2005, won two Tony Awards, and produced Billy Crystal’s 700 Sundays—the largest grossing non-musical in Broadway history. In My Soul's Been Psychedelicized!, Magid presents a spectacular photographic history of the bands that have performed at the Electric Factory and at other venues in Factory-produced concerts, from Pink Floyd and Jimi Hendrix—virtual unknowns at the time—to Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Presley and Pearl Jam. Longtime Philadelphia radio personality David Dye has won accolades for his style and presentation at various stations over the course of his distinguished broadcasting career. Since launching World Café—a unique program of contemporary sounds from legendary and emerging artists—Dye has served as the host of this nationally acclaimed show, now syndicated on more than 185 public radio stations across the United States.
