Join us for a Meet The Artist event with renowned theater artist Julian Crouch of Improbable, a premier London-based theater and performance company. At this free public event Julian will take you on a tour of the making of The Devil and Mister Punch. Premiering at the 2011 Philadelphia Live Arts Festival, The Devil And Mister Punch is inspired by the iconic English puppet show "Punch And Judy". This highly visual production will feature a company of actors, musicians and wooden and paper mâché players, exploring the familiar tale of the mischievous and violent Punch, while simultaneously leading the audience on an unexpected detour into the complex and dark world of Punch’s manipulators, the puppeteers themselves. Crouch is a director, designer, writer, and teacher whose career has spanned theater, opera, film and television. Trained as a mask and puppet maker, Crouch has become one of England’s leading theater-makers, earning numerous awards and accolades both independently and through his work with Improbable. His designs have been featured in such works as the Broadway musical The Addams Family, off-Broadway's Shockheaded Peter and Philip Glass's opera Satyagraha.
