Month of Moderns #2
June 18, 2011
Month of Moderns II, Saturday, June 18, continues The Crossing's deep connection with Philadelphia composer Kile Smith as they sing a substantial work on texts of Seneca, compiled by the composer into a gripping and beautiful libretto: The Waking Sun, written for Baroque instruments and choir. Tempesta di Mare will join for this important local event. The Crossing will sing the world premiere of Turkish/American composer Kamran Ince's Seneca Sounds commission, and Gabriel Jackson's extraordinary Not no faceless angel: Another photograph to put on a shelf (2006), for choir, cello and flute--featuring Mimi Stillman, Philly favorite and Artistic Director of Dolce Suono.
