Mural Arts Program is partnering with DVGBC Emerging Professionals, Kensington CAPA High School students and faculty, New Kensington Community Development Corporation, Urban Tree Connection, Philly Food Forests, Earth Force, and East Kensington Neighbors Association, among many others, to create this collaborative project and celebrate Earth Day. This "day of service" will allow many organizations and individuals to come together and do their part in becoming environmental stewards this Earth Month.

The project at Kensington CAPA includes the creation of an urban organic vegetable garden and painting a mural that is 300+ feet long! Kensington CAPA is a new LEED Platinum school (the first one in PA) located in the Kensington/Fishtown area of Philadelphia. Along with the mural and garden volunteer work, there will be a Sustainability Fair, informational displays, demonstrations and school tours scheduled throughout the day. We'll also have eco-friendly art activities for younger children to partake in while the garden and mural are being completed. This event is FREE, but registration is required for volunteering.

The Mayor's Office of Sustainability will be volunteering throughout the day and Mayor Michael Nutter will be in attendance as well to kick off one of our volunteer shifts!

Volunteers and donations are needed to make this event and project a success! Please visit our Kickstarter page to make a donation and read more about this exciting project! Please email Kate Jacobi at Mural Arts (kate.jacobi@muralarts.org) for volunteer registration. Volunteer shifts are available in 2-hour time slots for the mural and garden work (8-10, 10-12, 12-2, 2-4).
