The Independence Squares, Philly's lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgendered square dance club, will be holding an open house to introduce newcomers--LGBT and straight alike--to the fun of Modern Western Square Dancing! You've heard "swing your partner, do-sa-do" before, but how does one do it? Now's your chance to find out! Forget the awkwardness of middle school gym class, and this ain't your grandmother's square dance. Modern Western Square Dancing is fun, fast, friendly and a great way to exercise your mind and your body. Can you circle to the left or the right and walk forward on command? You can already do the square dance basics!
Come check it out, and if you find yourself wanting more, you're in luck, as the Open House marks the beginning of thesummer introductory square dance course, running from June through September! So wear some comfy shoes and bring a friend if you'd like! Guest caller, Joe Bradshaw, will have you up and dancing in no time! Note: Please use the entrance at 2111 Sansom St.
