Anvil! The Story of Anvil
April 11, 2011
Toronto best friends and nice Jewish boys, Steve “Lips” Kudlow and Robb Reiner, made a pact as teenagers to play rock music together forever. Their band, Anvil, influenced a generation of musicians, including Metallica, Slayer, and Anthrax. Their 1982 Metal on Metal album went on to sell millions, yet despite their popularity, Anvil took a nosedive into obscurity. Now in their fifties, the Anvil rockers are presented an opportunity to work alongside a world-class music producer, and have a second chance at stardom. Hailed as the “year’s great rock movie” by Rolling Stone, this hilarious documentary by first-time director Sacha Gervasi has been heralded all over the world as one of the best movies of 2009.
