In 1998, one million ecstasy pills were smuggled into the US by a group of Hasidic Jews. Holy Rollers reinvents this incident, using New York City as a backdrop and a temptress to lure Sam Gold (Jesse Eisenberg of The Social Network), an obedient Hasidic Jew frustrated with his faith, sexual naïveté and waning finances. Despite his better judgement, Sam jumps at the chance to make more money. Inspired by a true coming-of-age story gone awry, you will love this Jewish take on the gangster/mafioso genre.
