Troughs and container gardens are more popular than ever! Workshop instructor Betty Mackey has developed her own original recipe for making troughs with papercrete, a combination of Portland cement, perlite, and recycled paper shreds. The resulting trough is stone-like and will last for years. Each participant will make the trough on top of a carrying board and take it home the same day. Everyone will receive a detailed handout with the papercrete recipe and technique, plus info on other materials such as hypertufa and plain concrete, as well as directions for paving stones and other projects. We will work outdoors in the Preserve’s covered pavilion. Wear old clothes and bring sturdy rubber dishwashing gloves that fit well. Dust masks and all other supplies will be provided. Pack a lunch if you like.
