Hiding - A Documentary
March 23, 2011
On Wednesday, March 23rd at 7:00 pm, the Parkway Central Library, Free Library of Philadelphia, 1901 Vine Street will screen, Hiding, a film about a group of North Korean refugees hiding in China today, and their attempts to escape. While the world focuses on North Korea’s security issue, hundreds of thousands of North Koreans continue to be enslaved in prison camps. Up to 300,000 have also escaped to China – seeking food, medicine, work, or freedom from political and religious oppression. Among those 300,000, 70 to 90 percent of North Korean women are trafficked and sold into the sex trade. Now, even more refugees are fleeing to Southeast Asia to escape imprisonment or repatriation by China.
This film is presented in conjunction with LiNK. For more information, call 215.686.5414. Event is free and open to the public.
