Abington Art Center’s galleries will be transformed by three contemporary artists, each presenting a solo exhibition. On view will be work by Nicole Donnelly (Philadelphia, painting, printmaking and hand papermaking) Brooke Schmidt (Wyndmoor, sculpture and altered books) and John Holmgren (Lancaster, photography and mixed media).

Handmade paper is central to Nicole Donnelly’s work, which is self-described as, “the creation of two-dimensional sculpture and three-dimensional drawings, paintings and prints.” John Holmgren uses imagery and photography to recall memories and places, layering them with maps, text, drawing and painting to suggest the complexity of how we compile memories and experiences. Brooke Schmidt works with vintage books and fabrics, wax and found objects to create labor-intensive sculptures and altered books.
