Theater of War is an innovative, nationally celebrated project that presents readings from Ancient Greek plays—in this presentation, scenes from Sophocles’ Ajax—as a catalyst for town hall discussions about the challenges faced by service members, veterans and their families and caregivers today. Featuring Academy Award-nominated actor David Strathairn and actors from the People’s Light and Theatre Company, the program uses Sophocles’ classic play to forge a common vocabulary for openly discussing the impact of war on individuals, families and communities—with a goal of generating compassion and understanding between diverse audiences.
