Exhibit Opening - Drawn to the Water
April 15-December 31, 2011
Drawn to the Water- Artists of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts Capture Our Region’s Waterways- 1840 to Present. For more than 200 years, successive generations of PAFA students, instructors, directors and exhibitors have used our regions’ waterways as sources of inspiration. Though use and management of these water resources have changed over time, the tradition of painting them continues. The exhibit focuses on three waterways: the Schuylkill River, the Jersey Shore and the Delaware River, which flows past the Museum. Visitors to the exhibit will notice three empty spaces- these paintings will be created at three special plein-air (“in the open air”) painting events through the summer. Drawn to the Water will be on display through the end of 2011.
