Everyone is welcomed to imagine, play and learn together at...Sendak in Spring! On the first weekend of Spring, the whole family is invited to the Rosenbach to celebrate the work of famed author and illustrator Maurice Sendak—creator of Where the Wild Things Are. Visitors are encouraged to drop in anytime to participate in an interactive storytelling session led by storyteller Irma Gardner-Hammond, learn about world instruments from Papa Ed, create a 3D book with renowned book artists Jude Robison and Kay Healy, or see the new Sendak exhibit: Elements of Style. The Wild Things Whirligig is a can't-miss! Visitors can go wild at the Rosenbach with an interactive, imaginative opera filled with timeless melodies and laugh-out-loud fun! The work was created by Karen Saillant, the Artistic Director at the International Opera Theater. The story weaves together characters from Sendak’s work with music by masters who inspired him, like Mozart!
