Science and art collide with a dazzling display of sinuous movement, raw feats of strength and elegant, acrobatic suspensions around beautiful steel motion sculptures. Capacitor's boundary-breaking contemporary dance piece, The Perfect Flower brings botanical sciences to life during their Philadelphia debut at the Academy of Natural Sciences. Developed with researchers from the California Academy of Sciences and Artistic Director Jodi Lomask, The Perfect Flower illustrates survival in the natural world through graceful choreography. This program is presented by the University of the Arts and the University of the Sciences, PIFA and the Philadelphia Science Festival. The inaugural Philadelphia Science Festival is a city-wide collaboration showcasing science, engineering and technology in April 2011. Part of a national movement to make science hands-on accessible, the Festival builds on Philadelphia's rich history of innovation with over one hundred free events at museums, universities and neighborhood libraries. This event is part of the 2011 Philadelphia International Festival Of The Arts (PIFA).
