Independent Artist Movement in Cinematography - Origins in Avant-garde Film

Presented by Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts at The Ibrahim Theater at International House

The earliest experimental films were tied inextricably to certain painters, collagists and photographers living principally in Paris, Berlin and Munich. The Avant-Garde movement in cinematography, developed by these independent artists, was parallel to Expressionism, Futurism, Cubism and Dadaism. This event is part of the 2011 Philadelphia International Festival Of The Arts (PIFA).
