Ellis Island: Gateway to the Dream
April 26, 2011
Ellis Island: Gateway to the Dream is the high-spirited musical about courage and the challenges of the immigration experience--celebrating the multi-cultural foundation of the nation with wonder, action and heart. Artists emigrating from their home country were particularly drawn to the U.S. due to the breadth of freedom here, including Chagall and Stravinsky, who were earlier drawn to Paris. These artists, like so many others, embraced the concept that "Art needs Freedom and Freedom needs Art". This event is part of the 2011 Philadelphia International Festival Of The Arts (PIFA).
