LECTURES & LITERATURE

Strangers in a Strange Land
March 4-March 5, 2011
Center for Ancient Studies Graduate Student Conference: Strangers in a Strange Land. Travel has played a fundamental role in the shaping of history. As ancient peoples moved from one place to another, they left behind material remains, and in a few rare cases, literary accounts of their journeys. Today, scholars of the ancient world follow in their footsteps, visiting ancient sites, museums and libraries across the world. This conference brings together graduate students and faculty from a variety of disciplines in order to explore different approaches to travel in the ancient world. Dr. Annette Juliano of Rutgers University offers the keynote address.
