Last Friday Recital: Liebesfreud
February 25, 2011
Featuring violinists Geoffrey Michaels and Philip Kates, violist David Giles, and cellist Charles Forbes, the Philadelphia based Liebesfreud is an ensemble devoted primarily to the performance of great literature for the string quartet. In this, their second of four recitals during the Spring 2011 season, the featured composition will be Franz Schubert’s Trio for strings in B-flat. This composition was written in 1817 while Schubert was still in his teens, and features four full movements that display some of his more individualized musical characteristics. Even the casual listener will identify the elements of this composition that are uniquely Schubert. The program will run approximately one hour in length.
