Losing the Shore
March 16-April 2, 2011
This year, our season includes our first commissioned work: a full-length play by Philadelphia’s own Catherine Rush entitled Losing the Shore. The piece is a historical fiction following politician Adlai Stevenson as he cruises across the Pacific between elections. Set in the 1950s, his ocean voyage parallels the trial and sentencing of the Rosenbergs. This historical event serves as a prism to reflect the various perspectives of his traveling companions and their collective yet fragmented red scare American psyche.
As part of Interact Theatre Company's inaugural season at Upstairs @ The Adrienne, this world premiere run will also feature a Monday Night Reading Series of Ms. Rush's works under the direction of BCKSEET Outreach Director Michael Durkin.
