Visiting art museums and galleries is an important part of many of our lives, yet most of you are unable to explain the experiences you have there or what makes something a work of art. Focusing on pieces from the Academy’s collection, William M. Perthes, Assistant Director of Education for the Violette de Mazia Foundation explores possible ways of seeing and understanding works of art in an effort to uncover their visual language and to suggest ways in which these experiences may relate to your everyday lives.
