Audiences are invited to meet Ben Franklin's amazing wife! Did you know that the Constitutional Catalyst and Founding Father, Benjamin Franklin, had a lovingly devoted spouse by the name of Deborah Read Franklin? Well, now you do, and Hedgerow Theatre guarantees you will find her positively unforgettable. Charming, warm, wise, fearless and abundantly opinionated, the unsung First Lady of Philadelphia takes her long-overdue leap into the historic limelight. Audiences will learn about the life of Deborah Franklin, and how things were in colonial America prior to the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Scenes from her life are vividly portrayed. Some of these include her first meeting with Ben, defending her home against riots during the Stamp Act rebellion, how she and Ben developed their many businesses, her response to his electrical experiments, how she managed their general store, and other scenes; funny, witty, surprising and sad. This production is all about America's forgotten founding mother, and how Ben Franklin could not have become who he was, without her. There will be a question and answer session with the audience after the performance.
