Hands-On Tour: Book Illustration
February 6, 2011
Alice in Wonderland famously asked, “What’s the use of a book without any pictures or conversations?” This tour delves into the technology of book illustration, from illuminated manuscripts to photographs, along with a close look at some of the talented book artists represented in our collection, including Jean-Baptiste Le Prince, William Blake, and George Cruikshank. Created especially for visitors who seek an in-depth and focused look at the collection, Hands-On Tours allow you to get in touch with objects from the collection that are not usually on view to the public. Not recommended for children younger than 8.
